  • Airport scanners can detect nappies

So recently I took a short domestic flight in Australia. On the departure journey I wore a heavy duty pull-up, so I wouldn't have to carry as many pairs of pants. Going through the scanners entering the airport they detected something, so I got frisked. The guard felt the pull-up so I had to be strip searched. It was very embarrassing standing in that little room in front of 2 strangers in nothing but a very bulky pair of underpants. I should note they were still dry at that point.

I have long wondered this. Was it the full body scanner where you have to stand in the box and lift your arms up? I think they're the only ones which can pick up bulkiness.

Hi Aloo. Yeah that's the one. They were pretty respectful about it though.

Cool, I have been through those a few times but not been picked up yet. I did get frisked once... ironically after going through the old school metal detectors... and the guy could blatantly see I was wearing (and I was a bit wet at that point too). Nothing got mentioned though and I didn't need to go into a private room or anything.
