Thanks for the video link! Not enough video quality to see 'on topic' details, but now I see what happened in the race!
OMG. What a pain to be leading the race this long and then at the very end...
If only the track had been a few meters shorter!

I don't think we have to blame the poor quality of the video for some missing "on topic" details...
It's the material and the shape of the shorts Jess is wearing which is concealing 'em!
Oh my; given Japan basically invented the OMO term, it has a major underground popularity there.. it is probably the one country that will go out of its way to TAKE photos of athletes wet spots more than usual shots.
If you follow her on Instagram you'll see that the Aussie team have their traditional green outfit, the same one she wore in Paris and was very visible
(the first heat)
(and she kept her shorts bone dry)
(on the outside)
Laura Muir was unfortunate... she kept up 2nd for a long time but fell back in the last 120 meters. No semi-final for her.
I couldn't see if she kept her pants dry in the end.
Semi-final tomorrow, Final on Tuesday. That's where it can get interesting
Look at the gettyimages pictures. Has a new fabric been invented, or are these pants treated with some kind of water-repellent substance, or are all the pictures treated?
You do not have permission to view this gallery.
This gallery has 2 photos.
I don't know if those pics are treated. I didn't notice anything when I was watching it live on TV... maybe I was focussing too much on her shorts, LOL...
Still pictures are always easier to study
That last photo is particularly interesting! I think it had been raining during the day so I could understand her calves and ankles being a bit wet but to see wetness that high up is curious!
Worth noting that this was just a heat so unlikley she was pushing to her absolute maximum, which might be why she (possibly) stayed dry
